George A. (Sandy) Thomson
Mr. Thomson attended Northrop University in Inglewood, California studying Aircraft Maintenance Engineering but graduated as a Mechanical Engineer. After working with A.W. Chesterton, in 1965 Mr. Thomson joined the family business, Thomson-Gordon. At the time, this company was primarily a distributor of Engineers Supplies. Looking for a niche where engineered mechanical products made from rubber and plastic components could be designed, Mr. Thomson developed the Thordon polymer in the late 1960’s. The Thomson-Gordon Group has evolved with several industrial and aviation companies over the past 30 years. Currently, Mr. Thomson also operates a film production business, Cinema Sixteen Inc. besides being the Chairman of Thordon Bearings Inc. Mr. Thomson is the 3rd generation owner of the Thomson-Gordon Group and Thordon Bearings.
Chair and Human Resources Director
Joined Thomson-Gordon Group in July 2007 and was appointed Human Resources Director in 2008 and Vice-Chair in 2009. Mrs. Galoni is the next family owner (4th Generation). She has been a member of the Board of Advisors since 2006. Born in Gdynia, Poland and moved to Canada in mid 1990’s. Holds Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degree in Science (Epi) from Queens University,Canada.
President and CEO
Human Resources Manager
An experienced professional with an extensive HR generalist background, Donna joined the Thomson-Gordon Group in June, 2001 in a newly created position at TG as Human Resources Manager. Donna has enjoyed working in the HR field for the past 21+ years in both union and non-unionized environments. After raising her three daughters, she attended night school at McMaster University completing Human Resources courses and is a member of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPAO).
Director, Finance and Accounting
Joined Thordon Bearings Inc. in May 2010. Spent the past 12 years working in various industries, most recently with MAN Diesel Canada, a provider of international turnkey power stations. Prior to working in private industry, Mr. Medic spent over 10 years in public practice working with a local chartered accounting firm. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Waterloo, Canada and is a Chartered Accountant.
Director of Engineering
Started sea-going career as Engineer Cadet in 1978 and attained Chief Engineers License at age 26. After 17 years with the P&O group, returned ashore to study for a 1st Class B.Eng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering at Southbank University, London UK. Senior Surveyor within the Technical Investigation Department of Lloyds Register, then Engineering Manager with Railko before joining Thordon Bearings in 2001.
Director of Marketing and Customer Service
Born and raised in Newfoundland, began international marketing/sales career with Acadian Seaplants Ltd., Nova Scotia and Publicité Miracom Advertising, Ottawa, Ontario in early 1990’s. Joined Thordon Bearings and Thomson-Gordon Group in 1996 marketing products to industrial and aviation markets in Ontario, Canada and globally. In 2008, became Director of Marketing and Customer Service focusing on spreading the good news of pollution free bearings and keeping customers happy. Mr. Carter holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University and an MBA from Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Andy Edwards comes to Thordon from Wärtsilä Corporation where he held the position of VP Strategic Accounts and was responsible globally for Carnival Corporation and Royal Caribbean accounts. He held positions as General Manager and Regional Sales Manager with Wärtsilä USA and UK respectively. He spent eight years as International Sales Engineer for Thermatool (an Inductotherm Group company) supplying high frequency generators and dynamic cutting equipment to the steel industry. He completed a five year engineering apprenticeship during his eleven year career with the Royal Navy Submarine Service.
Director of Manufacturing
Bob joined Thordon Bearings, in July 2015, bringing with him extensive leadership and manufacturing knowledge from both the automotive and automation industries. His previous roles include VP of Operations, General Manager, Plant Manager and Quality Manager throughout the automotive, transportation and automation industries. He has been a regular speaker on Lean Operations and Leadership at various internationally recognized events. Bob has a Bachelor of Engineering from Queen's University.
