Max operating speed would be 50% of rated speed

SeaThigor offers a Safe Return to Port Emergency Seal so should a face failure occur the shaft can be operated and the vessel can proceed to a repair facility on its own power, at 50%of rated speed.

An outside pressurized balanced hydraulic seal is designed with an enclosed housing have the rotor module inside the seal, so no moving parts are exposed to the exterior. This design arrangement also places the pressurized water on the outside of the sealing rings, using the water pressure to keep the faces closed. This is particularly important for deep water operations, when there are pressure fluctuations that can open the faces of traditional seals, causing leakage.

If there is no damage to anything except the primary seals, you do NOT have to dry dock the boat or remove the shaft.  We have an in-the-water emergency replacement kit that has split SiC seal faces.  Ensure the emergency seal is fully engaged, then follow the instructions for the installation of the split seal faces.

There is NO maintenance cycle for the TG100 seals.  The TG100 seal is designed to operate virtually maintenance free.  The compression bellow is a polymer and does not suffer the cracking or compression set that rubber-based compression bellows do.  Our emergency seal is also a polymer based material and is not subject to the cracking and degradation that is experienced with a rubber-based bladder.

No, unlike other tail shaft seals on the market, the TG100 does not use a split clamp ring with a set screw.  The TG100 uses a taper lock “wedge ring.”  The more forward pressure the bellows exert, the tighter the wedge ring becomes on the shaft.
