BlueWater Seal Update

In 2021, Thordon introduced the BlueWater Seal to complement our seawater-lubricated propeller shaft bearings for the merchant fleet market.

Due to rising costs in a very competitive shaft seal market, Thordon will no longer offer the BlueWater Seal.

We have several choices that we can offer for water lubricated shaft seals for merchant fleet vessels:

  • Wärtsilä Enviroguard
  • SternKeeper SKC
  • Thordon SeaThigor

Depending on the operating environment, T-BOSS design, or cost pressures, Thordon will recommend one of the above for the application. 

Our GSS team are trained to install and service both SeaThigor and SternKeeper seals. Wärtsilä Enviroguard seal are serviced by Wärtsilä.
