Thordon Bearings Inc. is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Pursu Cat powerboat racing team in the Super Cat Class of the 2015 Qatar Cup.
The Qatar Cup will host offshore racing of ocean-going powerboats in Doha, Qatar on February 6-8, 2015, where the skills of the crew and the technical capabilities of the vessels will be tested and challenged. This three-day long competition will include one day of qualifying races and two days of racing with boats coming from the U.S.A., Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the Middle East.
The Pursu Cat/Crazy Cajun team is composed of Driver/Owner, Paul Boudreaux, and eight crew members: Jay Price - Throttles; Mark Gauthier - Crew Chief; Frank McComas - Engine Builder/Mechanic; Roger Thayer; Sam Zit; Tommy Lacheny; Manuel Cedatol; and Jim Bright make up the rest of the crew. Tierra Hotard is the Executive Administrator.
Jim has a long standing relationship with Thordon—he is the Engineered Products Manager at Marine Industries Corporation Inc. of Indiana, Thordon’s authorized distributor of marine products in the inland waterways of the southern United States.
“Offshore Powerboat racing is one of the most fascinating and challenging forms of motorsport today,” says Bright. “Boudreaux is an exceptionally skilled driver with multiple wins in the Super Cat Class. We anticipate outstanding results from him and his top performing boat and crew in this series.”
The Crazy Cajun, built by MTI, has a 44’ Kevlar hull. Power comes from a pair of Twin Scorpion Racing Engines, producing 800 HP at 7,000 RPMs. Crazy Cajun will be branded with Thordon’s sponsorship, and this—in addition to Thordon products installed in the steering system —solidifies the full support the company has for the team.
Paul Boudreaux is also the owner of Ashton, Marine a full service shipyard located in New Orleans, LA. Paul has been a fan of Thordon Bearings for many years now. His yard routinely installed Thordon products on a variety of offshore and push boats.
