Thordon Bearings will present their environmentally safe and long life RiverTough tailshaft bearings and TG100 shaft seals which were developed specially for workboats at the International Workboat Show, taking place in New Orleans this November/December.

At the opening session of the 2016 SNAME Maritime Convention in Bellevue, Washington, U.S.A., George A. (Sandy) Thomson has been elected a Fellow of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME). According to the Society, the grade of Fellow is accorded exclusively to “individuals who have made outstanding personal contributions to naval architecture, marine or ocean engineering, or allied disciplines through significant achievements in design, research, production, operation, education or associated management.”

Thordon Bearings has successfully completed the oil to water-lubricated tailshaft bearing conversions of the first four of 15 Impala Terminals Colombia-operated tug/tow boats. Impala Zambrano, the first of 15 triple-screw and twin-screw pusher boats scheduled for oil-to-water conversion, was retrofitted in July 2015 with a Thordon RiverTough bearing and TG100 shaft seal combination.

Thordon Bearings’ US West Coast Distributor, Pacific Marine Equipment has successfully completed the installation of a pair of TG100 mechanical propeller shaft seals to Hornblower Cruises & Events’ 1000-passenger capacity twin screw flagship, Inspiration Hornblower.
